Please read this information in its entirety before starting the registration process.

Getting Started

You may find filling out the ScoutFEST 100 Registration Check-List prior to starting the online process helpful. When you click to register below, you will be asked to login using your user id and password. This is NOT your MyScouting account password or your Member ID number. It is unique to the Chicago Area Council website. If you don't already have one, you will need to create one here. You may register as a unit, a family, or an individual. All registrations purchased on one order will be delivered as a single packet. We cannot combine registrations that are placed separately. We would prefer that participants register with their unit or den, if possible, to expidite delivery of your registration package. In order to register multiple people on the same registration, the account holder must first "add" themself and click continue. Next, they should type in a participant's name and click add. They will repeat this process until all participants have been added. Once all participant's names have been added to the registration, click continue. Staff MUST register individually.

During the registration process there are a series of forms that you will need to complete. Once you have added all participants you will be brought to the "required forms" page. The first form you will need to fill out is the group registration form. For this form, select the action "complete form" to get started. When the form is completed the status will change to "complete". Next, you will need to fill out the individual registration form for each participant. Select the action "complete form" to get started. When finished with all required forms, click "continue." This will bring you to the payment page. If needed, you may edit these forms in the future. See the "editing your registration" section for details.

Registration Type

On the first page of the registration form you will be asked to indicate your registration type - participant, staff, or vendor.

Those wishing to serve on staff may select "staff", this however does not guarantee a position. Applicants that are not selected for a staff position will have their registration automatically converted to a participant registration. Please remember there are no refunds or cancellations for this event. Staff members who are selected for a position will be contacted by a ScoutFEST 100 committee member.

Only vendors wishing to attend the stage show need to register here. The vendor commitment form can be found here.

Camperships and Camp Cash

Scouts from the Chicago Area Council may be eligible for financial assistance for a portion of the ScoutFEST 100 registration fees. The campership application form is available here. If you have or will apply for a campership for this event, please select PAY BY MAIL at the end of the registration process, DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENTS AT THIS TIME. Your unit leader will be notified of any camperships that are awarded, and your registration account will be credited upon approval. You will also receive an email notification when the account has been credited. Upon receipt of this email, you must log in to your registration account and pay the remaining balance by credit card or submit the remaining balance by check to the Council office. Payments submitted to the Council Office must by accompanied by a copy of your current registration confirmation.

Those wishing to apply camp cash to their ScoutFEST 100 registration fees should indicate the amount of camp cash to be applied to the registration when asked. If you are using camp cash, please select PAY BY MAIL at the end of the registration process, DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENTS AT THIS TIME. Your camp cash will be credited to your registration and you will receive an email notification. Upon receipt of this email, you must log in to your registration account and pay the remaining balance by credit card or submit the remaining balance by check to the Council office. Non-Chicago Area Council participants should check with their local Council about financial assistance prior to registering for this event.

Food

During the registration process, you will be asked if each participant would like to pre-purchase meal tickets for this event. Lunch tickets may be purchased for $5 and include a cold sandwich, chips, and a drink. Dinner tickets may be purchased for $8.50 and include a hot sandwich, side, cookies, and drink.

Additional snacks and beverages will be available for purchase on-site at the trading post.

Unfortunately, due to Chicago Park District regulations, no fires, nor flames, nor fuel of any kind is permitted at this event. Although coolers will not be permitted due to space restrictions, units may bring non-refridgerable bag lunches if desired.

Urban Adventure Hike

One of the exciting program opportunites at ScoutFEST 100 will be an urban adventure hike of your choice! A free shuttle bus will take Scouts from Northerly Island to a point in the Chicago Loop where they will begin this adventure. Scouts will be shuttled back to Notherly Island when their trek is complete.

For planning purposes you will be asked to provide us with an idea of which Hiking or Touring option your group would be most interested in. All hikes are self-guided, with a few accompanied by an Audio Guide (mp3) Note: Guided tours will be made available for Scouts with special needs.

The options you will have to choose from are:

Loop 'Da' Loop
Scouts will travel through the Loop collecting, exploring and discovering new clues about Chicago while solving riddles, answering trivia and piecing together a much larger puzzle.
Self-guided with maps and clue sheets. 5 miles max.

Geocache Chicago
Older Scouts can put their orienteering skills to the test in this. GPS units will be required for the “Ultimate” in geocaching search of Chicago treasures. Eight-grade math skills will be involved.
Self-guided with maps and coordinate clue sheets. 6-8 miles max.

Chicago “Cubs” on Tour
Younger Scouts can explore fun and exciting attractions throughout downtown and Millennium Park, while learning fun facts about significant works of Art, Architecture, Culture and History.
Self-guided (Audio enhancement), maps, & puzzle sheets. 3-4 miles max. MP3 player required.

Wild for Chicago
This true scavenger hunt will have Scouts scouring the entire loop for a long list of odds and ends. Anything from fast food menus, historic information, pictures of cows, to bus transfers. All to be collected within a specific time frame. Clues will be provided but maps may not (accept for orienting purposes).
Self-guided and self directed. 3-4 hours long. Mileage is undetermined.

Trading Post and Parking

Parking passes can be purchased during the registration process on the transportation page of the group form. In the near future, we will offer pre-order ScoutFEST 100 merchandise online. Please check www.scoutfest100.org to see when it become available.

Editing Your Registration

If you find that you need to add more people or change individual options on your registration you may do so at any time until August 15, 2010. After August 15th, you will need to start a new registration and pick up the two packets separately.

To edit your registration, click "edit an exisiting registration" below. You will be required to provide the user id and password that you used during the initial registration.

Delivery of Registration Materials

Immediately upon completion of your registration, you will receive an email confirmation. However, registration packets will not be available until September 1, 2010.

Your registration packet will contain the wristbands that provide you entry to the ScoutFEST 100 activities and stage show. These wristbands should be treated like a concert ticket and are not replaceable if lost/stolen. Also included in your packet will be your ScoutFEST 100 patches, leader's guide, and any food tickets or parking passes (if applicable).

Due to the value of the registration packet, we will offer limited options for packet delivery. Packets may be picked up and signed for at your Council office or shipped to you for an additional fee. Other delivery options may be available in your area by contacting your local District Executive. Packets being picked up at the Council office must be picked up no later than September 15, 2010. Registrations packets will not be available on-site on event day!

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA – CHICAGO AREA COUNCIL
INTRODUCTION to OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS

What? Participants will learn how to: set up camp, cook, work with wood tools and ropes. In addition, participants will also receive instruction in: first-aid, map and compass skills, hiking/packing techniques, and nature identification. Participants will also help plan a campfire program and worship service.

Who? All Scoutmasters, interested Troop Committee Members/Leaders, Webelos Leaders (if taken now, this course does not need to be repeated when you move to a Troop), Venturing Advisors, and interested Crew Committee Members/Leaders.

When? Friday - October 15, 2010 (Check-In 6:30 PM) until October 17, 2010 (Approx. Noon)

Where? Camp Dan Beard: 200 Portwine Road, Northbrook Illinois

Fee? $ 35

Why? Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader

Details: Introduction to Outdoor Leader is a course about outdoor skills. Participants will be required to bring their own tent (1 per person). There are no shower facilities at this location.

Basic Training Extravaganza

Presented by
Chicago Area Council Training Team

The Basic Training Extravaganza is a council-wide training day dedicated to conducting training for adult leaders in all phases of the Scouting family. This is the opportunity to attend leader-specific training to prepare you for your opportunities and responsibilities relating to your leadership position. This single day is packed with an abundance of information for leaders who want to provide the best program possible for their Scouts.

We will have your specific Scouting track, but you are also free to pick any courses that peak your interest.
