BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA – CHICAGO AREA COUNCIL
INTRODUCTION to OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS
What? Participants will learn how to: set up camp, cook, work with wood tools and ropes. In addition, participants will also receive instruction in: first-aid, map and compass skills, hiking/packing techniques, and nature identification. Participants will also help plan a campfire program and worship service.
Who? All Scoutmasters, interested Troop Committee Members/Leaders, Webelos Leaders (if taken now, this course does not need to be repeated when you move to a Troop), Venturing Advisors, and interested Crew Committee Members/Leaders.
When? Friday - April 16, 2010 (Check-In 6:30 PM) until April 18, 2010 (Approx. Noon)
Where? Camp Dan Beard: 200 Portwine Road, Northbrook Illinois
Fee? $ 35
Why? Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader – The Boy Scouts of America will require training for all top leaders in 2011, and all direct-contact leaders in 2012. Top leaders are Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches, Venturing crew Advisors, and Sea Scout Skippers. Direct-contact leaders include all assistant leaders and den leaders.
