BAWOW training takes all the great information in the BALOO Outdoor Training and combined it with the Outdoor Webelos Leader Training. It is important for all of the leaders that will be doing outdoor activities with the Pack to participate in this training. The Adventure Base 100 is a hands-on, total immersion Scouting exhibit that is traveling the country during Scouting's centennial year. It will visit Chicago for three days in the spring in conjunction with Chicago's Cinco de Mayo Festival. Click to find out more or to volunteer to help!
During this weekend training, participants will learn how to: set up camp, cook, work with wood tools and ropes. In addition, participants will also receive instruction in: first-aid, map and compass skills, hiking/packing techniques, and nature identification. The Basic Training Extravaganza is a council-wide training day dedicated to conducting required training for adult leaders in all phases of the Scouting family. This is the opportunity to attend leader-specific training to prepare you for your opportunities and responsibilities relating to your leadership position. This single day is packed with an abundance of information for leaders who want to provide the best program possible for their Scouts.
The Construction Industry Dinner Show is the largest single fundraising event for the benefit of the Chicago Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Proceeds from this event help bring valuable youth service programs to over 44,000 young people annually. In 2007, the Executive Committee of this event initiated a Scholarship program in memory of 2 key former volunteers. Saturday, April 24th at 7:05pm the Chicago Slaughter indoor football team invite you out for a nite out at a special Scout rate. Tickets are only $14.00 each and Scouts will enjoy meeting Head Coach Steve "Mongo" McMichael and getting pictures and autographs from your favorite players and dancers on the field after the game. Join Scouts from all over the Council at the recently opened Dunning Read Conservation Area to show your commitment to service and our local environment. Your participation in this council-wide service project will bring you one step closer to qualifying for the Chicago Area Council Year of Service Award.
To earn the Year of Service Award in 2010, Scouts will work with their unit leaders to choose appropriate service opportunities throughout the year.
